Teresa Smart

Teresa Smart is a mathematics educator who for over 40 years has worked with children, university students and teachers strengthening teaching and learning in mathematics in England, Mozambique and Ghana and more recently Jordan and Kazakhstan. She is a visiting senior fellow at the Institute of Education, University College London. Her research interest is in the use of digital technologies to improve teaching and learning in mathematics classrooms. She continually asks questions and through her inquisitiveness she has widened her research interest to issues of underdevelopment and particularly the role of small-scale commercial agriculture in improving people’s lives through increasing the rural economy. She has undertaken field work with farmers in Mozambique and Zimbabwe, and is co-author of three books.
